glad to see them up!

1st up i'm glad to see SS5+ is no longer grouped with EX OS, but for now all the extreme and extreme OS classes to be amalgamated pretty much assures the charade won't return to DBdrags, not a huge issue as i have the corolla for DBdrag... but it's just another nail in the coffin for that car...

yet to read thru the actual rules, but definitely a good step not combining SS5+ and ex os anymore...

it's asking for a log in on the page you linked george, anywhere else the rules could be found...?

well checking the termpro forum it is apparently for judges eyes only, which is why it's now password protected....

would be terrible to let the public in on the new rules wouldn't it... not like everyone is waiting on the new rules to build to... lol

The rule page that was leaked was only a rough draft and was not the final set.

This is one of the problems when you trust people to do the right thing no matter what business or organisation you talk about.

these are official and finalizedfor street stock and street.

Street Stock
  • There is now only one Street Stock class.
  • The distinction between Amateur and Pro has been eliminated because this rule was too easy to circumvent.
  • The "consumer grade" restriction has also been removed because it was un-enforceable.
  • The maximum frequency limit for Street Stock was reduced from 80 Hz to 60 Hz.
  • The restrictions on vehicle make and model have also been removed because they are no longer necessary due to the frequency cap.
Street
  • A new "Street Trunk" class has been created.
  • The 2011 Street A class has been eliminated. The 2011 Street B class is now renamed to Street A. (If you competed in Street B in 2011, you will now enter Street A for 2012.)
  • The 2011 Street C class is now renamed Street B. (If you competed in Street C in 2011, you will now enter Street B for 2012.)
  • Competitors in the Street Division may now run their vehicles while in the judging lanes. This was necessary because many competitors were over-charging their batteries immediately prior to pulling into the lanes. This created a hazardous condition because acid was sometimes leaking on the floor. There was also the risk of explosion due to a build-up of hydrogen gas. In addition, many competitors would "top-off" their charge immediately prior to pulling into the lanes. These competitors would then want to be metered immediatley and the officiating staff could not always comply.
  • Competitors may now use up to 2F of capacitance in all Street classes.
  • The maximum frequency limit for competitors in the Street divison has been reduced to 60 Hz. This was done to reduce the domination of these classes by specific vehicle models. I completely agree with this decision as dB Drag Racing should be about the auto sound system and not the vehicle. I believe this change will increase participation in dB Drag Racing.

60Hz limit is going to bugger some cars in the street class.
but also pros can now run street stock. hmmm GTI does 148's off 1400wrms and the equipment types and restrictions have been removed, so might run that in street stock now.

not so much confusion about the rule itself, more about the fact it has changed so much, it now registers 99% of street class and SSNW cars defunct...

Some very interesting changes. The addition of a sedan (trunk) class is long overdue and a few years too late for me.

The freq limit in street is also very interesting, no more panda's.

Overall i believe positive changes :)

"All of the woofers in a vehicle (10 inches and larger) will be counted when determining what class a competitor should compete in.

Additional Guidelines:
  • Every woofer in an Isobaric or Compound configuration shall be counted.
  • Hidden woofers (such as those found in Bandpass enclosures) shall be counted.
  • Passive radiators, ports, and vents are not considered to be woofers, and therefore will not be counted as such.
  • If the largest speaker in the contestant's sound system is smaller than 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter, then all of the speakers that are being used to produce bass shall be treated as woofers."

this says to me that someone can have a single 10" sub to stay in the lowest class, but have an unlimited amount of say 8" subs and yet the car will still be clasified as having 1 sub lol. is it just me or is that a pretty bad mistake?

I think the "additional guidelines" overrules what you are saying mate.
